Today’s Patent – Media Retention Plate For A Block Underdrain System
The said invention (US12246271B2) was invented by Rehan A Mukadam, Roy Yancey, Steve Jantsch, Kevin Schwarz, Stan Shmia and patented by USPTO on April 4th, 2023. Currently, it stands assigned to the Individual.

The disclosed invention Water, wastewater, and industrial filtration systems are designed to remove suspended particles from the fluid being treated. These systems incorporate an underdrain system that supports the filter media and maintains a gap between the media—such as sand, anthracite, or similar materials—and the bottom of the filter. The filter media functions to capture particulates, including dirt, debris, and various chemical or biological contaminants, as the fluid passes through it. Underdrain systems are commonly constructed using assemblies of underdrain blocks.
Multiple inserts may be positioned around the perimeter of the basal section of the media retention plate’s bottom surface. These inserts enhance the structural strength of the media retention plate and help prevent it from lifting.
