PATENT OF THE WEEK – MULTIPLE METER PANEL
The MULTIPLE METER PANEL was invented by James Frank Meacham on the 22nd of September 1970, bearing patent number US3530340A.
This present invention generally relates to a meter panel which is provided with a single openable cover having individual openings for each of the meter sockets. Each socket is provided with a locking ring and the cover openings are large enough so that the cover may be opened without the necessity of removing any of the meters or breaking any of the meter locking seals or removing any meter locking collars.
Line busing at the panel interior is enclosed in a housing disposed within the panel case so that when the cover is open all line or unmetered busing is protected. Transverse extensions of the bus bars facilitate energization thereof as well as electrical connection to bus bars of adjacent panels in multiple panel installations.
