TODAY’S PATENT – FILLING BODY
The Filling body was invented by Nina Woicke and is been patented by USPTO on 30th September 2014 bearing patent no. US8844136B2. This patent has been assigned to GEA 2H Water Technologies GmbH.
This invention features a contact body that is made up of multiple sheets of corrugated plastic joined together by multiple connection elements. These elements connect two sheets to form a pair. This placement reduces the number of elements that are not connected, which ultimately leads to a more effective cooling process in cooling towers.
The method of construction involves connecting pairs of sheets to positive lockings near the edges and joining two sheets together pairwise before attaching them to positive lockings that are distributed across the sheets. This technique is both cost-effective and versatile because, in a single step, it can be combined with the production of a positive lock between paired connection elements while still maintaining its economy-friendly nature. The streaming behavior and overall cooling efficiency of cooling towers are both significantly improved thanks to the contact body.
