TODAY’S PATENT – SURGICAL ROBOT PLATFORM
The Surgical robot platform was invented by Neil R. Crawford, Nicholas Theodore, and Mitchell A. Foster. This was granted patent by USPTO on 31st August 2021 bearing patent no. US11103317B2. This invention was assigned to Globus Medical Inc.
Medical robot system with a robot controlled by an effector element. A transmitter can send one or more signals to an instrument connected to the effectuator element. The system may also include a robot motor assembly and multiple receivers to receive the transmitter’s signals.
A control unit connected to the motor assembly and the plurality of receivers sends one or more instruction signals to the motor assembly. The instruction signals can cause the motor assembly to selectively move the effectuator element and (i) calculate the position of at least one transmitter by analyzing the signals received by the plurality of receivers; (ii) display the position of the transmitter with respect to the patient’s body; and (iii) selectively control actuation of the motor assembly in response to the signals received by the plurality.
