TODAY’S PATENT- THERAPEUTIC UNDERGARMENT

This therapeutic undergarment was invented by Aubrey Howard (Chicago, IL), Eden Laurin (Chicago, IL), and Mia Clarke (Chicago, IL). It was patented by the USPTO on November 16, 2021, bearing patent number USD935735S1.

This patent was assigned to Nyssa Care Inc. (Chicago, IL). Their claim is the ornamental design for a therapeutic undergarment, as shown and described.

THERAPEUTIC UNDERGARMENT

This invention is the first cold/warm compress specially designed to fit between women’s legs, which relieves pain in the vulva, the area around the caesarean incision, and the perineal region. With its innovative and patented 360° pocket design, this undergarment safely retains an ice pack or heat pack anywhere within the clothing. Its eco-friendly, 4-way stretch fabric easily adjusts to shifting postpartum body shapes and securely holds ice or heat packs in place. It has a seamless ultra-high waist that can be worn over or under a pregnant or postpartum belly.

It was created in collaboration with an Innovation Advisory Board of OB-GYNs, doulas, midwives, and pelvic floor therapists, among other experts in women’s health. Nyssa was founded in response to the dearth of resources for postpartum recovery. In order to address it, they developed FourthWear Postpartum Recovery Underwear, their first product.
