TODAY’S PATENT- REHABILITATION AND PHYSICAL THERAPY DEVICE
Today’s patent was invented by Lee Roberts, Kirk Holle, and Scott Roberts on July 9, 2013 bearing patent no. US8479326B1.
The present invention provides a rehabilitation device that facilitates to increase the freedom of movement for a recovering patient and exercise surface for placement under a patient’s hips to allow lower body exercises and therapy to be conducted without interference from blankets or sheets on the bed. That board includes a smooth upper surface which allows a patient to be supported above bed sheets and engaged in the leg and hip rehabilitation activities with minimal friction while high friction lower surface keeps the device in place while deployed.
It provides a means of separating a patient in a bed from the underlying sheets and a rigid planar surface upon which to engage in therapy exercise. The shape of the device is like a first rounded end and a second flat end to form a triangular shape having tapering longitudinal sides. In this, the cross-section comprises a thin, rigid, and uniform material having a low friction upper surface and high friction lower surface. A slot penetration along one of the tapering sides allows for handling of the device and for transporting between patients.
