TODAY’S PATENT – PROSTHETIC HEART VALVE AND DELIVERY APPARATUS
The said invention (US11690718B2) was invented by David Alon, Netanel Benichou, and Oded Meiri and patented by USPTO on July 4th, 2023. Currently, it stands assigned to Edwards Lifesciences Corp.
The present invention concerns embodiments of a prosthetic heart valve and a delivery apparatus for implanting a prosthetic heart valve. Prosthetic cardiac valves have been used to treat cardiac valvular disorders for many years. Open cardiac surgery to repair or replace the valve was the standard therapy for such diseases for many years, but it is risky.
A Trans Vascular approach has been devised using a flexible catheter to introduce and install a prosthetic heart valve without open heart surgery. This prosthetic device has a Balloon-expandable valve system, which makes the Prosthetic heart perform like a real heart, properly reducing complications after the artificial device is installed in the body. Inventions of this nature are always seen as an addition to the existing technology.
