TODAY’S PATENT – PROSTHETIC DEVICE FOR HEART VALVE
The said invention (US11730598B2) was invented by Asher L Metchik and Sirous Darabian on 7th September 2017. Currently; it stands assigned to Edwards Lifesciences Corp

This application addresses devices and methods for treating mitral valve regurgitation, a condition where the valve fails to close properly, causing blood to flow backward into the left atrium. Current transvascular techniques, like the MitraClip®, have limitations such as difficulty in positioning, stress on valve leaflets, and the need for multiple devices. There is a need for more efficient and effective treatments for mitral valve regurgitation.
The implantable prosthetic device features anchor members, clasps to secure leaflets to the anchors, and a cover that wraps around the anchors and clasps. The cover may also include a coupler and extensions of a coupling collar that pass through it.
