TODAY’S PATENT – PATIENT MONITORING APPLIANCE
Patient Monitoring (US8708903B2) was invented by Bao Tran and patented by USPTO on April 29th, 2014. Currently, it stands assigned to Koninklijke Philips NV.
Traditionally, patient monitoring in hospitals required constant nurse oversight, but now electrical monitoring devices are used. However, these devices require cables, which complicate procedures and limit patient mobility. They are mainly used in intensive care units due to high costs, leaving less serious cases without monitoring options.
The claimed invention is a wireless system comprising of a wearable device that monitors various body parameters, along with multiple wireless nodes connected to it. Additionally, there’s a remote computer linked to these nodes, offering data access to authorized remote users.
This setup enables continuous monitoring of body parameters without the constraints of wired connections. It facilitates remote access to vital health information, providing convenience and flexibility for both users and healthcare providers.
