TODAY’S PATENT – LOCKING TAPE DISPENSER
The Locking tape dispenser was invented by Brian A. Vulpitta. This was granted patent by USPTO on 26th August 2014 bearing patent no.US8813806B2. This invention was assigned to Shurtape Technologies Inc.
A tape dispenser that can dispense lengths of adhesive tape from a roll of adhesive tape wound on a cylindrical tape core with a first sidewall, a second sidewall generally parallel to the first sidewall, a hub structure, and a tape retaining tab extending inwardly from at least one of the first and second sidewalls. Between the front parts of the sidewalls is a support for a tongue that goes backward.
The tongue has a back edge that comes close to the tape-holding tab and makes a gap with it. A part of the unwound tape goes through the gap between the retaining tab and the tongue. The tongue can move between a first position that holds the unwound part of the tape against the retaining tab and a second position that lets the unwound part of the tape separate from the retaining tab.
