The procedure entails giving an inorganic nitrite dose that is therapeutically efficacious to a subject who needs treatment. Both inhaling and nebulizing the nitrite are options for administration. The nitrite may be given in an escalation titrated dose or as an emitted dose. Both a liquid and a dry powder form of nitrite are possible.
