TODAY’S PATENT–FOLDING KNIFE WITH BLADE LOCK

The FOLDING KNIFE WITH THE BLADE LOCK was invented by Kimi Sakai (Lynnwood, WA) on the 13th of June, 2006 bearing patent number US7059053B2.

The present invention relates to the field of folding knives and the novelty in this invention is its capability to lock and an open position with a blade extending from a handle. The folding knife has a blade pivotally attached to one end of a handle and the said blade can be moved between an open position from which it extends away from the handle and in case of closed position the blade is received within the groove of the handle. A locking link is pivotally mounted on the handle for swinging in the same plane as the blade, with a swinging end of the locking link cooperating with a notch in the tang to automatically lock the blade in the open position. The blade can be released for movement to the closed position by manipulation of buttons exposed at the exterior of the handle, which buttons extend transversely from the swinging end portion of the locking link. And thereby the major feature of the folding knives is its locking mechanism which prevents the blade of the knife from getting closed unintentionally and unexpectedly thereby this invention is more convenient to use.
