TODAY’S PATENT – FITNESS MONITORING

This fitness monitoring device was invented by Bao Tran and was patented by the USPTO on 1^st July 2014 and has been assigned to Koninklijke Philips NV. This invention relates generally to methods and systems for monitoring a person. The current invention has been granted a utility patent. It was granted a patent from the USPTO on 1^st July 2014 bearing the serial no US8764651B2.

The monitoring system comprises of a body wearable appliance with a band or a watch which includes a portable device to wirelessly communicate speech data over a wireless network; one or more sensors to capture fitness or vital sign data mounted on the portable device including an accelerometer in the portable device to detect user movement or fitness; and a processor coupled to the one or more sensors in the portable device over a wireless personal area network.
