NFTs are unique, immutable units of data stored on a blockchain, often linked to digital assets like artwork, where they verify ownership or authenticity. However, the NFT itself is not directly tied to the associated asset, which can be transferred or reproduced independently. The value of owning an NFT may be disassociated from the asset it represents. Existing methods lack a mechanism to link ownership of physical goods with their corresponding NFTs in a way that enhances value or facilitates verification.
This invention introduces systems and methods for embedding tags such as NFC or RFID into physical goods like apparel or accessories, linking these tags to NFTs on the blockchain. This approach enables verification of both the NFT and the physical good, creating a new “third value” when combined ownership is established. It also allows access to exclusive physical or digital experiences by verifying combined ownership. Additionally, the embedded tags can authenticate the origin and purchase history of the physical good, enhancing trust and usability in resale or ownership transfer.
