The said invention (US12278658B2) was invented by Richard E. Hutchinson, Thomas A. Hutchinson, Gerald A. Hutchinson, Steven J. Weaver and patented by USPTO on May 2nd, 2024. Currently, it stands assigned to the Medway Plastics Corp.

Disclosed is a mobile phone cover designed for enhanced shock absorption and impact protection. The cover includes protrusions on the inner surfaces (e.g., back, side walls) which reduce contact with the phone and dissipate impact energy. These protrusions may have various shapes, such as soft-side rectangles or X-shapes, arranged in arrays to absorb shocks along the phone’s length, width, or diagonals. Some versions of the mobile phone cover include air pockets between protrusions to enhance shock resistance, corner bumpers and thickened spines to provide torsional support, and water-passable spacing between interior features for added functionality. Additionally, raised lips extend over the front edge of the phone to protect the screen. These features work together to actively distribute impact forces, offering superior protection compared to traditional phone cases and significantly reducing the risk of damage from drops.
