TODAY’S PATENT – AUTOMATED DEVICE PROVISIONING AND ACTIVATION
The automated device provisioning and activation was invented by Gregory G. Raleigh and later assigned to Headwater Research LLC. It was patented by the USPTO on 2nd July 2013 bearing the patent no US8478667B2.
The invention monitors traffic associated with an end-user device, identifies, in the traffic, particular data transfers within a service category identifying a set of one or more service activities less than all service activities associated with the end-user device. Determines a service usage measure based on the identification of the particular data transfers within the service activity category. It can be implemented in numerous ways, including as a process; an apparatus; a system; a composition of matter; a computer program product embodied on a computer readable storage medium; and/or a processor, such as a processor configured to execute instructions stored on and/or provided by a memory coupled to the processor.
