PATENT OF THE WEEK – HOSPITAL TROLLEYS

“Hospital trolleys” (US4011609A) are used to transfer patients from one trolley to another. This invention was invented by Farkas Bethlen, patented by the USPTO on 15th March 1977.

The present invention relates to hospital trolleys which releasably secures two trolley frameworks together to facilitate transfer of a patient from one trolley framework to the other. These trolleys transfer the patients without lifting them where the patient is transferred from a general purpose trolley to the one which is used in a sterile area.

The main objective of this invention is to provide a trolley which is capable of carrying a patient support member and the means of enabling the support member to be moved horizontally onto and off the framework.
