TODAY’S PATENT – CASKET VAULT

“Casket vault” was invented by Lloyd L. Sorensen, patented by the USPTO on 16th February 1982, bearing the patent number US4315353A.

The present invention relates to burial vaults made of plastic, with appropriate stabilizers and additives. It is an improved and sturdy invention that comprises a substantially rectangular base unit forming the floor of the vault.

The principal objective of this invention is to provide an inexpensive vault that is sealed to be moisture-proof and can withstand the pressure of the filled earth in the grave. It also helps in preventing the distortion of the vault which would otherwise disrupt the moisture-proof seal. An additional objective is to provide a burial vault that collects the fluids resulting from the decomposition of the body and maintains the fluids out of contact with the casket or coffin in the vault.
