TODAY’S PATENT – MATRESS FOUNDATION

It is well-known, that the configuration of an inadequate sleeping surface and the distribution of body weight vary in such a way that it causes irregularity of sleep or body aches. Ronald G. Hutchinson received his patent for the invention “Mattress foundation” by the USPTO on 3rd February 1976 (US3935605A).

The present invention relates to mattress foundation in the nature of a bedspring for supporting a mattress on a bed frame or bedstead. It is designed to enhance the orthopedic serviceability of mattresses by providing them with under support to give firmness to the body.

The main objective of this invention is to provide a mattress that does not make the human body saggy or tilting. In addition to this, the foundation of this invention provides firm relatively unyielding support for the greater area of the mattress in a manner that permits the mattress to serve its function.
