Today’s Patent – Vehicle Localization by Artificial Intelligence and 5g/6g Messaging
The said invention (US12193114B2) was invented by David E. Newman, R. Kemp Massengill and patented by USPTO on July 14th, 2024. Currently, it stands assigned to the Massengill Family Trust.

This invention describes a system and method in which a “planning” vehicle coordinates with nearby “cooperating” vehicles to localize all vehicles in its vicinity. The planning vehicle broadcasts a message requesting that cooperating vehicles measure angles and distances to visible vehicles at a specific time. Each cooperating vehicle collects this data and sends it back, along with its wireless address. Simultaneously, the planning vehicle performs its own measurements. All collected data is processed through an AI model, which outputs a table or map of vehicle coordinates based on the aggregated measurements.
In another aspect, a base station or access point can serve as the planning unit, issuing the same measurement requests and collecting data from multiple vehicles. The received angles, distances, and wireless addresses are then used as inputs to an AI model to generate a real-time traffic map, indicating the positions and identifiers of all participating vehicles. This system enhances spatial awareness for autonomous navigation, cooperative driving, and traffic coordination.
