Today’s Patent - Implantable Medical Device Fixation

This invention describes implantable medical devices (IMDs) with remotely-deployable active fixation tines for securing the IMD or its components to patient tissue. Delivered via catheter, the tines deploy from a spring-loaded position to a hooked shape that anchors the device without damaging tissue. The design allows for removal and redeployment to accommodate different tissue types and optimize positioning.

The disclosure also includes kits and methods for implantation. A kit may feature an IMD with tines, a catheter that holds the IMD, and a deployment mechanism that triggers tine release. As the tines deploy, they pull the IMD from the catheter and fix it to the tissue, enabling stable and adjustable placement across various clinical applications.
