A wearable device is disclosed that presents virtual content to a wearer either a patient or healthcare provider (HCP) for various healthcare applications. These include accessing, displaying, modifying, and sharing centrally stored patient medical records. Ownership of the medical record resides with the patient, enabling consistent and comprehensive data across multiple healthcare providers and facilities. Authorized HCPs can view and update the record in real time using the wearable device, which ensures the medical record reflects up-to-date information following each procedure or treatment.
The device can display relevant patient information during procedures and enable HCPs to make updates or share data securely. An outward-facing camera can image the patient and medical instruments in use, allowing the system to track tool usage and compliance with protocols. If an instrument is left inside the body or a protocol is breached, the device alerts the HCP immediately. This system enhances accuracy, continuity of care, and patient safety through integrated virtual content and real-time monitoring during clinical interactions.
