Today’s Patent – Light Lens Assembly for Wearable Electronic Device
The said invention (US12203646B1) was invented by Cheng-Yu Tsai, Minhung Lee, Yu-Hung Lin, Yung-Lang Yang and patented by USPTO on May 28th, 2024. Currently, it stands assigned to the Garmin International Inc.

The wrist-wearable electronic device includes a housing, display, and a lens module mounted on the housing’s sidewall. The lens module features a light-emitting element, a lens with upper and lower surfaces, and a Fresnel structure on the lower surface. This Fresnel structure disperses light from the light-emitting element into the lens body, enabling flashlight functionality. Such a design is useful in smart watches like Garmin’s Forerunner® or Fēnix®, aiding athletes with illumination during activities.
