Today’s Patent – Fluid Transfer Device
The said invention (US12171719B1) was invented by Haiming Wu, Danial Ferreira and patented by USPTO on May 16th, 2024. Currently, it stands assigned to the Genzyme Corp Start LLC USA.

A fluid transfer device is designed to simplify the preparation and administration of injectable or infusible medicaments, particularly for home or self-medication. It comprises a body with a first connecting portion for a diluent container and a second for a medicament container, each linked to respective fluid channels.
A movable flow control member within the body enables switching between control positions: in the first position, the diluent and medicament containers are fluidly connected for reconstitution; in the second, the reconstituted medicament can be expelled through a discharge duct to a discharge device (e.g., syringe); and optionally, a third position fluidly isolates all channels to prevent premature mixing. The device supports sterile, error-resistant operation and may include an external actuator for intuitive switching between configurations, thereby improving safety, efficiency, and ease of use in medical preparation and delivery.
