The disclosed invention is a dental floss device featuring a floss strand attachment member that is movable both distally and proximally relative to the handle portion. This attachment member includes a collar that partially encircles the handle and defines an interior space. The floss strand, which has a defined length, is secured at one end to the first arm and at the other end to the floss strand attachment member, with its middle portion threaded through a channel in the second arm. The attachment member can shift between a first and second position to adjust and increase the tension of the floss strand.
