TODAY’S PATENT – NITROSATED AND NITROSYLATED PHOSPHODIESTERASE INHIBITOR COMPOUNDS, COMPOSITIONS AND THEIR USES

The Nitrosated and nitrosylated phosphodiesterase inhibitor compounds, compositions, and their uses was invented by David S. Garvey, Inigo Saenz de Tejada. which is been patented by USPTO on 28^th September 1999 bearing patent no. US5958926B2. This patent has been assigned to Nitromed Inc.

Nitrosated and/or nitrosylated phosphodiesterase inhibitors with the formula NO.sub.n-PDE inhibitor, where n is either 1 or 2 is described. The invention also includes mixtures of these compounds with a carrier that is safe for use in medicine.

The invention also includes a composition with a therapeutically effective amount of a phosphodiesterase inhibitor (PDE inhibitor), which can optionally be substituted with at least one NO or NO.sub.2 moiety, and one to ten-fold molar excess of a compound that donates, transfers, or releases nitrogen monoxide as a charged species, such as nitrosonium (NO.sup.+) or nitroxyl (NO.sup.-), or as a The invention also includes mixtures of these compounds with a carrier that is safe for use in medicine.
