TODAY’S PATENT – ACCIDENT-AVOIDANCE SYSTEMS AND METHODS

The Accident-avoidance systems and methods was invented by David S. Breed, Wilbur E. DuVall, and Wendell C. Johnson. which is been patented by USPTO on 16 September 2008 bearing patent no. US7419717B2. This patent has been assigned to American Vehicular Sciences LLC.

The goal of the invention is to cut down on car accidents by giving a host vehicle a system to avoid accidents. This system has a navigation system, a vehicle-to-vehicle communication system, a global positioning system, and a map database with digital maps. GPS differential correction signals can find the host vehicle and send collision warnings to the driver of the host vehicle. The map database might have digital maps of the road, its height, and the land around it.

The global positioning system, map database, and vehicle-to-vehicle communication system in the first vehicle and the second vehicle work together to keep them from colliding. GPS satellite location technology, like MIR or RFID triads, radar, and reflectors, gives collision avoidance systems information about where a vehicle is and how it is moving. The invention can be used with a powerful computer or a vehicle that is connected to the Internet. Advanced image processing quantifies video signals and makes warning and control signals for hazards for the vehicle.
