TODAY’S PATENT – ELECTROSTATIC SPRAY CHILLING OF FOODSTUFFS
The Electrostatic spray chilling of foodstuffs was invented by Bart Clerx, Hubertus J. Van Laer. This was granted patent by USPTO on 23rd August 2022 bearing patent no. US11419340B2. This invention was assigned to Graco Minnesota Inc.
Food can be quickly cooled with an electrostatic spray chilling system. Food moves on a conveyor through a tunnel that is cold. For the chilling tunnel to cool the food, the primary airflow is cooled. As the food goes through the chilling tunnel, spray modules create sprays of electrostatically charged fluid and apply them to the food. The charged droplets of liquid are drawn to the ground food. The charged fluid droplets can be guided onto the food by secondary fans and air-guiding baffles. The secondary fans are set up to create sub-flows of the chilled primary air.
