TODAY’S PATENT – HEALTH PILLOW

Today’s invention was invented by  Emiko Fujiwara and Fujio Soga on 4th June, 1996, bearing patent No. US5522105A. The invention was assigned to TOKIWA Corp (KK TOKIWA) (50%), Tokiwa Corp and Ivy Inc.

The prior publications disclosed had an interior portion of the pillow filed with Japanese cypress chips, the problem with these materials is that they are very absorbent of moisture, and gradually they swell up becoming heavy, and the scent vanishes within a short span. Whereas in the instant invention, wood pieces are cut and pared into half-cylinder shapes. Two half-cylinder sections are joined together to form a tubular wooden piece and these are used to stuff the pillow. The wooden pieces are shaped like tiny tubes, which allows for good airflow through the tubes. The hardwood pieces also continuously maintain their freshness and long-lastingly exude scent.
