TODAY’S PATENT – VEHICLE WARNING DEVICE

Today’s invention was invented by  J. Bradley Mason, Thomas W. Olliver, III, Kenneth S. Watkins, Jr., published on 1st June, 1999 bearing patent No. US5909173A.

The device comprises a warning indicator which is activated by a deceleration sensor upon sensing an excessive deceleration rate.  A base that may be inserted into a light socket on a vehicle supplies power to the warning indicator. In the preferred embodiment, the base is part of an adapter comprising an adapter socket for receiving the vehicle lamp. The adapter allows installation of the warning device by simply plugging the adapter into the vehicle lamp socket. A stroboscope is included in the preferred embodiment to provide a highly visual indicator of an emergency braking state.

The purpose of the current innovation is to provide a visual vehicle warning system that alerts oncoming vehicles to an emergency braking situation.
