TODAY’S PATENT – OXYGEN MASK

This invention “Oxygen mask” was invented by Victor L. Bartholomew and assigned to Creditanstalt Corporate Finance INC Creditanstalt Bankverein, was granted patent on 6^th May, 1978 by the USPTO bearing patent grant number US4201205A to the patentee. This modification combines a length of elastic tubing attached on or near opposing sides of the mask with a non-elastic flexible tube that wraps over the user’s ears and brings it under the chin where it is secured with an adjustable ring or clip. Due to the elastomer’s spring-like characteristics, the elastic tubing ensures a consistent fit of the mask without the need for repeated manual adjustment. Yet, because it does not reach over the patient’s ears, discomfort issues are avoided.

An oxygen mask with improved means for securing it over the user’s nose and mouth, the improvement consisting of two lengths of elastic flexible tubing, each length having a first and second end, each first end being secured to a different one of said non-elastic tubing ends, and means securing each second end of said elastic flexible tubing.
