TODAY’S PATENT – AERODYNAMIC DEVICES FOR ENHANCING LIFT AND REDUCING DRAG
Today’s patent was invented by Katia Bertoldi, August G. Domel, George V. Lauder, Mehdi Saadat, and Hossein Haj-Hariri on January 5, 2021, bearing patent no. US10882606.
This invention is an aerodynamic device for increasing lift and decreasing drag on a body is made up of a number of raised members, each of which has a symmetric profile, a central portion with an elongated profile, and first and second outer portions with elongated profiles that are arranged roughly parallel to and on opposing sides of the central portion. The plurality of raised members is placed next to one another to form a continuous structure on or defining at least one side of the body. A flying disc may benefit from an aerodynamic device that increases lift while lowering drag. The elevated members are positioned next to one another to form a continuous structure, and they are orientated in a largely circumferential orientation on the surface of the flying disc.
