TODAY’S PATENT- FISHING ROD

The Fishing rod was invented by Roger M. Gough on the 7th of November 1989, bearing patent number US4898309A.

The present invention relates to an improved light weight recreational fishing rod.A fishing rod having a reel mounted on one end thereof and a handle rotatable about the reel to facilitate winding and unwinding of a line on the reel. The line being disengageable from the handle to facilitate surfcasting of the line from the reel.

The shortcomings of the fishing rods being expensive, complex and inefficient have been overcome by this invention. The object of the invention is to provide a fishing rod which is relatively cheap, simple and effective and able to facilitate surfcasting and the delivery and retrieval of line without a complex reel mechanism, or to at least provide the public with a useful choice.
