TODAY’S PATENT – BRIDGE

Pedestrian bridges are constructed using numerous components by expensive skilled labourers. In today’s patent we will discuss about Hans H. Olrik’s invention, the “Bridge” (US4080681A), which was patented by the USPTO on 28^th March 1978.    

The present invention relates to bridge constructions consisting of a self-supporting beam type section which is supported at intervals. As the bridge constructions are expensive, they also deteriorate due to effects of rain, wind and sun. Therefore, the principal objective of this invention is to provide a new and improved bridge which can be easily manufactured in a factory with the help of machines and transported to the site in order to reduce the labour cost of fabrication.

It also aims to provide a bridge which employs modern principle of box beam. The lighting fixtures are placed in a simple manner which is suitable into watertight spaces.
