TODAY’S PATENT – PILLION RIDER BELT

A cyclist, equestrian or any rider frequently carry a passenger as pillion rider who hold onto the waist of the driver. In cases where the ride is rough the grip can become loose and the rider can fall. Lawrence H. Riggs received his patent for the invention “Pillion rider belt” (US3940801A), by the USPTO on 2^nd March 1976.

The present invention relates to belts which are designed for pillion riders. This belt comprises of four slits which are placed apart, having an inside and outside face. The end of each strap is inserted through the slit and fastened to the inside of the belt. This invention provides a belt which is worn by the driver and used by the pillion rider to maintain a grip. This invention aims at providing grip to the pillion rider in order to avoid falling and is easy to manufacture as well.
