TODAY’S PATENT – CONVERTIBLE CUSHION

Protective garments are designed to protect the wearer from extreme or changing weather conditions. Dwight S. Meeks received his patent for the invention “Convertible cushion” (US4138742A), from the USPTO on 13th February 1979.

This invention relates to a stylish or protective garment which is attached to a seat cushion pad, capable of being folded in cooperation with the cushion pad when not worn. The prior art inventions such as rain capes with a hood, serves to receive the folded cape when the cape is not in use. The primary objective of this invention is to provide a stylish convertible cushion pad attached to the garment. It provides a padded seat cushion and a garment which can be removably attached to the cushion.
